Statement on the Israeli-Palestine Conflict

[Danish below]

KVINFO works to strengthen human rights, equality and gender justice in Denmark and abroad. We collaborate with organisations that promote these causes in the Middle East and North Africa. In Denmark, we work with women who originate from these regions.

Our thoughts are with all those affected by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Danish governments have a long-standing commitment to human rights and multilateral cooperation, including to the UN agenda on Women, Peace and Security.

Denmark is applying for a seat on the UN Security Council 2025-26. In the candidature material it is stated that “Denmark is strongly committed to sustaining peace through inclusive and holistic approaches with the Women, Peace and Security agenda at the center”, and that “The Kingdom of Denmark is a principled champion for UN core values and a long-standing advocate of rules-based multilateralism, human rights and international humanitarian law.”

The government should continue that commitment in the current situation.

KVINFO calls on the government to work for

  • Compliance with international humanitarian law and the rules of war
  • Protection of all civilians
  • An immediate humanitarian ceasefire and adequate humanitarian aid to civilians in all vulnerable areas
  • Resumed peace negotiations with the participation of women at the negotiating table

I det officielle materiale hedder det, at “Denmark is strongly committed to sustaining peace through inclusive and holistic approaches with the Women, Peace and Security agenda at the center”, og at “The Kingdom of Denmark is a principled champion for UN core values and a long-standing advocate of rules-based multilateralism, human rights and international humanitarian law.”
